“Art is important for it commemorates the seasons of the soul, or a special or tragic event in the soul’s journey. Art is not just for oneself, not just a marker of one’s own understanding.
It is also a map for those who follow after us.”
– Clarissa Pinkola Estés – Women Who Run With The Wolves
Kia ora! I was born and raised in Whangarei, New Zealand and have had a passion for art and dance for as long as I can remember. After studying art and dance right through my school years it was suggested I couldn’t make a career out of my passions so I went on to study a Bachelor of Media Arts majoring in Film & Television instead.
For many years I had a number of different “conventional” jobs including corporate roles but I never felt that I fitted in the box. In 2015 I went through a period where I was feeling very uninspired with life and realised that something needed to change. I decided to go back to the things that I knew brought me joy – painting, yoga and dance. Since then I have become a full time artist, and completed qualifications in teaching yoga and facilitating dance.
I firmly believe that being creative, whether it be through visual arts, dance or music, is integral to our emotional, mental and spiritual wellness and I seek to inspire this practice in others.
